After the reception had reached the end, our family began cleaning up the venue and we ran off with Sarah and Josh to take some photos in the setting sun. We had so much fun playing around in the summer air. It was wonderful to spend a bit of time away from everyone, with my husband. We danced around in the woods outside our cabin venue for a bit and then drove a little ways down the road to a fern field. By the time we all got back to the cabin, everything was cleaned up and we were the last people remaining. So we had a last dance on the big empty floor. I think it some how suits us that we left last. I suppose normally, the bride and groom leave first and there's some sort of send off in a car that says "just married" on the back window. But Trevor and I were so swept up in our love and savouring every bit of it. Not to mention, having a blast with Sarah & Josh, who are a wonderful, creative couple themselves. We couldn't have picked anyone better to shoot our special day! We felt surprisingly comfortable and in the moment, even though we were being photographed :) It was dark when we finally left the park, just before it's gates closed.

Here we are with the photography talents, they did such an amazing job! Thanks Sarah & Josh for capturing our special day!

What a magical day! We are so grateful to everyone to helped make our day special and so grateful for all the kind words we've received!

Have a gorgeous day!

SoulMakes Wedding: Part II

Our wedding reception was amazing! We had a good old fashioned cook out! It was, after all, Memorial Day! There was no assigned seating or escort cards, that's just not our stye! The venue itself, was a beautiful cabin, with a large deck overlooking the Shenandoah. Out front there was a patio and grassy area, so we figured we'd just let our guests hang out where ever they wanted!

Trevor's family prepared all the food, some had been prepared the day before, but the venue also had a chef's kitchen and outdoor grills. I have to say, this was definitely the BEST food I've ever had. Burgers, topped however you want them, salad, baked potatoes, veggies, all the perfect barbecue foods! For dessert, Trevor's dad brought a few dozen Dunkin' donuts, we picked up a simple pre-cut (yes, pre-cut) vanilla bean cheesecake from cheesecake factory and Trevor's aunt made the world's most delicious tiny cheesecakes. So yummy!

We had a photo booth guest book, with an instax camera for people to take selfies with and sign for us, using a back drop of the biggest dream catcher I've ever made in my life! We absolutely loved all the pictures our friends left us with.

AND, we had amazing music of course, provided by our guests! On our invitations, we asked everyone to bring a musical instrument. During the ceremony, two of our friends strummed their guitars, playing Going to California as I walked down the aisle. One of Trevor's uncle, a musician himself, provided us with a sweet sound set up! We borrowed a boat load of hand drums, tambourines and noise makers from a friend for our guests to grab and get to jammin'. We loved that people kept saying how great "the band" was, when in fact, it wasn't a band, it was just a few of our close friends having a good old fashioned jam session.

Trevor and I had our first dance to JJ Grey - The Sun is Shining! It was a most magical moment (although, I really am not much of a dancer!) And I must've changed my jewelry 10 times through out the night. What can I say? There was too many good jewels to choose from ;)

We gave away lots of favors! My favorite was our hand painted, clear glass, mason jar mugs! It was so much fun making these and we thought it would be a nice unique and reusable gift to give to our loved ones. We also had a crystal buffet, where we served Citrine, Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz & Amethyst. We gave away little feather bunches as well. We felt these were perfect to give away, they are items that really capture Trevor & I and of course, our wedding experience well.

It really was the most magical day of my life! We wanted to keep things pretty simple and we didn't want to pretend to be anyone other than ourselves on our big day. I guess you could say, Trevor and I have a sort of specific style as artists. When people walk into our home for the first, they usually say "this is so you guys" and that's how we wanted our wedding to be. We also really wanted our guests to feel like they were free to enjoy themselves whole heartedly, after all, it was a day about love! Trevor and I couldn't be happier with how our big day came together, it was perfect!

And we do still have more pictures, believe it or not, so stay tuned!

Have a gorgeous day!
