We are so happy that Spring has officially arrived! The birds are chirping, warm sunshine is moving in and I've even seen a few flowers blooming! We always look forward to festival season when the temperature starts rising. I gathered a few of my favorites for the perfect festival look. I'm dreaming of dancing barefooted in the grass, adorned in SoulMakes jewels jangling around my wrists and neck. Wearing a flower crown on a sunshiney day, listening to my favorite band play  and of course, every festival flower needs the perfect crop top to beat the heat. Adorn your tent with some healing crystals for good vibes and dreamcatchers to carry off into sweet dreamland! Stop by the shop for all you festival needs!

Have a gorgeous weekend!

DIY Wedding Favors

As many of you know, Trevor and I will be getting married in just two short months! Both of us are artists, so it makes sense that our big day is going to be the greatest art project ever. We ordered some clear mason jars, with handles for our guests to drink out of at the reception. We decided to personalize them a little bit by drawing a unique design on each glass. They will make the perfect little take home gifts for our friends! This DIY is super easy, all you need is some clear glasses and a white paint marker(or you can you use as many different colored markers as you like)!

I decided to draw little mandala style designs on the glasses. Start from the inside and work outward on the circle. Using either a dot, diamond or triangle in the center of the glass and fanning out from there with different geometric shapes. Have fun with it, don't worry about perfection!

Of course, I had to draw a few feathers too!

They look even better once they're filled with lemonade! I think our wedding reception guests will love these.

We are also planning on having a little "crystal buffet" where guests can fill their cups with rose quarts, amethyst, citrine etc at the end of the night to take home as an additional souvenir.

And these beauties also make a really gorgeous vase for flowers and feathers

Time to get creative! Have a gorgeous day!

Behind the Scenes

Between shooting a new SoulMakes book, filling orders and planning our own wedding we have had our hands full!! We haven't been able to nurture our little blog space quite as much we would like to, so I thought I'd share some quick behind the scenes snaps. The photos above a mix of on set SoulMakes Spring '14 and various shots from around the studio throughout the week. I'm especially fond of the last photo.. You gotta be flexible if you wanna be a photographer. I'm so glad Trevor was able to capture a few of me behind the lens. We worked with SoulMakes muse Kathleen as our model, you may recognize her from our Winter on Main Street book. We just love her blonde locks and her pouty lips! (You can find her on insatagram @kathleen_kayy) We are beyond excited to release our Spring Look book, so stay tuned!

Floral Haven

We're shooting out a spring look book this weekend! I am beyond excited to step into this spring time day dream of a photo shoot we have planned. I spent some time playing around with some of our newer pieces and colorful flowers to get some inspiration going for the shoot. Our studio quickly changed from a dreary winter day to a bright floral haven!

Have a gorgeous day

White Light

Many of you may have gathered by now that white is my favorite color. While some people wait till spring to shift to white and use a lighter pallet, white is my favorite color year round. On the light spectrum, white is seen as mix of all colors. In this way it is quite literally, everything. Wholeness. Completeness. It embodies the rainbow, while lending itself as a seemingly blank canvas. It's really quite a contradiction of a color and that is exactly why I love it. Of course I use a lot of white in SoulMakes designs. White leather, cowrie shells, beads, feathers etc. I especially love to mix it up with creams, ivories and other off whites. These combinations seem to create the perfect easy going, washed ashore look. I love the ease at which you can layer and layer with white. Naturally, I like to wear as much jewelry as I can, and these light neutral tones allow a sort of effortless look, rather than clashing. I adore the way that feathers look against a light pallet, it really creates a soft, ethereal flow and mix in a few turquoise gems to add some intrigue. I love how strikingly vibrant these gems look against braided white leather. We have some gorgeous new pieces in the shop to welcome you into spring with gorgeous white light! Stop by and check them out!

Have a beautiful day!
