Dallas Vintage

I spent a few nights in Dallas, TX and I loved it! The wonderful creative spirit behind The Feather Junkie, Ashley, showed me around town. I had such a blast hopping from vintage shop to vintage shop with her. Our first stop was Dolly Python. I've been lucky enough to travel around the country a lot and I've seen lots of awesome and eclectic vintage shops and I have to say, so far, Dolly Python is my most favorite. One half is full of an amazing selection of vintage clothes. Their collection is well curated and fairly priced. They've got loads of perfectly worn, buttery soft graphic tees, gauzy embroidered hippie tunics and all kinds of rad denim. Not to mention, an entire wall and then some of boots! I felt like I could spend hours trying clothes on. The other half of the store is full of amazing chachkies from skulls, to textiles, native figurines & buddhas. They have a great selection of records too! Dolly Python has something for everyone and if you're ever in town, it's a must-shop!

We drove around Dallas, making our way over to Lula B's, cool stuff for cool people! Lula B's in Dallas is a two levels of sheer goodness. The lower level was full of amazing finds from home decor to mid century furniture and more. My favorite was a Bud Light Lime beach cruiser that I would've bought in a heart beat if it could fit in my suit case. 

I had such a blast being a tourist in Dallas with Ashley! I'm so glad I had a friend in town to show me all these amazing spots. Texas is a pretty magical place and I have a feeling I'll back soon!

NEW SoulMakes Collection

We have some seriously gorgeous new goodies in the shop today! It's a mix of new home decor pieces and lots of jewels! We have some stunning statement collars and bracelets, hailing from Turkey, with intricate tribal detailing. These beauties are so sensationally bold. Our new collection of rings, imported and hand crafted in Turkey, finished in antiqued silver tones, etched to perfection with gorgeous geometric designs. These pieces look amazing all worn together, a ring on each finger! 

We are particularly excited about our new collection of SoulMakes designs, which includes lots of hammered metal, electroplated crystals and lush sterling silver chains. We had so much fun designing and creating these jewels. My favorites have to be the Revolution Choker & Raven Necklace (pictured on model above). They just scream "total bad ass chick" to me. These pieces are a little bit edgy, rock n roller and we are kind of obsessed! We've also got something a bit more delicate and dainty, our new electroplated gemstone necklaces are so easy to wear! Hanging from gorgeous sterling silver, they are great layered all together.

Our new electroplated agate collection is super fun and easy going, with bright tassels and vibrant stones. We love the idea of these worn on a sun kissed babe out on the beach. They are so easy to throw on casually, and layer, layer, layer! These beauties aren't out just yet, but they will be hitting the shop soon!

Lastly, we have some beautiful new home decor! Onyx candle holders in swirling tones of creamy goodness, that almost remind me of the desert sands. There's some stunning agate geode candles, in blue, pink, purple and natural tones. These babies give off such an ethereal glow when they are lit. My most favorite of the new additions to the House and Home section have to be our new stone dishes. Made in onyx and agate, they are perfect soap dishes in the bathroom or kitchen, but we love them as little ring dishes. They are the perfect little place to drop any treasures.

New Years Resolutions

This year I'm keeping my New Year's resolutions simple...

1. RELAX

Relaxing is not something I'm very good at. I find it hard to know when I should stop working. And even when I finally decide to "clock out" for the day, I usually find myself doing some sort of "psuedo-work" with the excuse that I'm only doing "the fun kind of work." I'm thinking maybe I need to take more baths this year. The whole sitting still thing is great, but I think in order to really enjoy that, I'm going to need to worry less overall. I need to recommit myself to surrender. I'm not in charge anyways. God's got me, I just need to get out my way & surrender myself to life as it's happening.

2. DREAM

This one's not so hard. I'm a pretty big dreamer. But I have to admit as SoulMakes continues to grow I sometimes find myself trapped in fear, riddled with questions that all seem to begin with "how" and this often prevents me from seeing the bigger picture. The fact is, my dreams have come true! Here I am with a successful business and a beautiful life, but it doesn't end there! I have to keep dreaming bigger dreams! You know what they say, if your dreams don't scare you...they aren't big enough!

3. SHINE

I think Marianne Williamson sums this one up best.. 

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

And my favorite stones to take me into the New Years are Citrine, Labradorite & Pyrite..

Labradorite is the perfect stone to ring in the new year, it a stone of transformation and a helpful companion through change. Pyrite is an energizing gem, which will help to keep you going through whatever resolutions you may have and Citrine is the stone of success, to ensure a wonderful year!

I never tire of the Colorado sunset! Somehow the clouds out here pillow so majestically and seem to be magically suspended in the sky, as if they were hung there just especially for your viewing pleasure. Each night as the sun falls the sky lights up in a pastel array of blues and pinks and oranges. We are lucky enough to have lots of family in the area, we always stay with my amazing in-laws. There's a field a few seconds walk away, with some really breathtaking views and wiry trees. We always wander out and snap a few pictures. I am not ready to go back home! I can't wait to live in Colorado forever!
