I'm completely in a summer state of mind. The heat has finally arrived here. There is nothing I love more than a 90 degree day, yes, even with all the humidity we have here in Northern VA. The first chance I get I'm going to layer up in some summertime jewels and run off to the beach!

Caravan Treasures

 

 We have some gorgeous new treasures in the shop today. These beauties are all unique, one of a kind creations, each features a stunning antique Tibetan pendant. The designs were inspired by the wonderful and rich colors found in the Eastern World. These amazing statement pieces instantly give the feeling of a traveling caravan filled with lush hues, tall mountain tops, exotic aromas and enlightening spirits. I hope to travel to the lovely East someday but for now making these pieces was the perfect cure for my intense wanderlust.

New Beauties

We have so many gorgeous new items in the shop this week!

We've added the Gypsy Dream Jade Bracelet in to the Cosmic Collection! Jade is a symbol of serenity, purity and wisdom. It brings love and harmony to it's wearer. Jade is also commonly known as the "dream stone" because it promotes insightful dreams! We've also got a new little series of bracelets developing, using beautiful gems like Turquoise, Pyrite and of course a few shells paired with lush, elegant gold and irredescent green tones. Turquoise Fever

 

We have some beautiful new items hitting the shop this week! Lots of all natural Turquoise, I'm so drawn to this gem lately. Turquoise is a master healing stone with the ability to dispel negative energy, stabilize moods, instill serenity and it can be used during meditation to help open and clear the mind. Wearing this mesmerizing stone will help you to gain wisdom, inner peace, love and friendship. This lovely little stone is a perfect companion for me right now! We also printed up some gorgeous new postcards with some new drawings and shots from our Summer look book, which we'll be releasing very soon!

I'm especially fond of the new Kingman Turquoise Oracle, a perfect addition to the Crystal Oracle Collection! The breathtaking Turquoise nuggets comes from the Kingman mine in Arizona, one of the largest and oldest mines in the United States. Weekend Highlights

Over the weekend I shipped out lots of orders and made some new items! I'm so drawn to Turquoise lately and it's no wonder, considering one of it's many properties is the ability to instill inner calmness. I've got lots of big changes going on, good changes, but changes nonetheless, this lovely gem is a good companion for me! We'll have some new items hitting the shop this week!

And I'm super excited about what Trev is working on!! Besides giving me tons of encouragement and being my biggest inspiration, Trevor is the photographer and web developer here at SoulMakes, while I generally do all the designing and making. It's so cool to see how our rolls in SoulMakes develop over time, I've certainly gotten much more involved in the tech stuff and for a while now Trev has been a great sounding board for my design ideas. Sometimes he gives me game-changing suggestions on simple elements, such as which chain to use or what charm to attach etc. Recently we've started to experiment with lost wax, a process in which metal is cast in the shape of a carving done in wax. It's a very popular technique used to make rings, bracelets, charms and sculptures. Trev has really taken to it and I could not be more excited to have him involved in the creative process! It's so wonderful to see his artistic side come alive in a new medium! We really bring out the best in each other, it's so amazing getting to work with the love of my life!

This is his first carving! I'm super impressed! He loves that Dremel.. We can't wait to bring the finished results to the shop after we get a bit more practice in :)

Foxy Lady

I decided to pick up some colored pens and paint markers the other day for a little experimentation. Until now, I've just been using black pens. I'm lovin' that extra touch the color adds. There comes a point in each drawing or whatever medium I'm using, including jewelry making, where the work is satisfactory to me, yet somehow unfinished. I've always struggled with the finishing touches, like the orange paint strokes around the fox.. I'm afraid I might ruin the piece, so I hold back. But I'm learning that perhaps it's only after I cross that line that the design becomes truly unique and truly a part of myself. I'm learning to trust the process, let go of fear and have a little fun exploring!

This attitude opens me up for new inspiration and allows me to create new beauties, like the new Foxy Lady Bracelet (white version of version of our Black Magic Woman bracelet) and the gorgeous Wild Heat Turquoise Necklace. These lovely new gems will be in the shop soon!

Black Magic Woman

 

Obsidian is truth enhancing. It is a protective stone, forming a shield against negative energy. It encourages exploration of the unknown and opening up to new horizons. Snowflake Obsidian shares the same properties and in addition to that, it's a calming stone bringing peace and serenity to it's wearer. No wonder the creation of this little gem had me so open to inspiration. The Black Magic Woman Bracelet, made with Snowflake Obsidian, will be hitting the shop soon!

I'm so blown away by these stones, the new ideas they bring me and how they allow creative energy to flow out of me. I'm so grateful to get to work with such beautiful materials and share them with you!

Weekend Highlights

Spring seems to have finally returned here! The sudden arrival of sunshine and warmth had me inspired, as usual. So I opened up the windows in my studio space, turned on some music and made a few new creations! It's so wonderful to have the opportunity to use these lovely materials made by Mother Earth herself in my designs. You've probably seen our Purple Haze Bracelets, made with Amethyst Heishi...

Apatite is one of my most favorite stones, because of the healing properties it offers. Apatite helps promote acts of service and humanitarianism. It stimulates spiritual attunement and deepens meditation. It enhances creativity, increases motivation and aids with self expression on all levels. 

These bracelets are so great for stacking! I love the look of them all layered up on a wrist. Coming soon to the shop!
