Halloween

I just had to share a couple of photos from a costume party Trev and I went to this past weekend. We have some pretty creative friends, check out Father Time up there! Naturally, I dressed as a gypsy. I basically just piled on a bunch of my favorite clothes and tons of SoulMakes jewelry. It was a lot of fun. What are you going to be for Halloween?

Have a beautiful day!

Finally Fall

Fall has finally arrived here and we couldn't be more excited. Our home is littered with tiny little pumpkins and squashes. We have candles burning all day and of course SoulMakes fall collection is scattered about our home studio. We often times look around our place in wonder at the warm and cozy atmosphere we've created. It's a small space but it's so filled with love and it had me feeling very inspired, so I created this little Autumn vignette to share with you all. I love arranging these gorgeous still lifes in our home, often inspired by our latest jewelry creations. It's important for me as a designer to be able to see our beautiful pieces on display and it seems to promote even more inspiration in me!

I hope you all are enjoying fall as much as we are!
Have a beautiful day,
MacK Mars

Autumn Bucket List

The weather here is starting to cool off. We're in that perfect part of the season where it's not quite chilly yet, just enough of a breeze to put on a sweater. I adore fall. I love watching the colors change and the leaves float to the ground, I love watching this season unfold. I'm also really fond of all the lovely traditions and festivities that happen at this time of year.
Here's our fall bucket list:
1. Go on as many nature walks as possible
2. Visit the local farm (my favorite fall activity)
3. Pick some fruit!
4. Go to the pumpkin patch
5. Have a bonfire
6. Play in the leaves

Of course, there's a million other lovely things to do in fall. What on your fall bucket list?

Love,
MacK Mars

Lavender DIY(sort of)

All you need is:
Some old cans and bottles (I have quite the collection)
Raffia ribbon, dried moss (I got mine from Michael's)
Lavender bunch (Trader Joe's)
Scissors

So I didn't take step by step pics (kudos all you DIYers out there), because the steps are really pretty simple. Tie raffia ribbon around cans & bottles, I just used a simple knot. Then trim the lavender to the desired height (I also added some white flowers) and place the floral bunch in different kinds of vases. I hot glued the dried moss to the side of one of the cans, to give the appearance of over flowering greenery.

We got a little creative and hung them from the ceiling. We just punched holes on either side of the cans and used transite line (fishing line) to hang them, the clear string made it look like they were suspended in mid air, defying gravity.

I've been collecting old glass bottles for a while and I recently started to collect cans as well, in preparation for our wedding decor. I've been dreaming of all different types of white flowers, mixed with lavender for our big day! I stumbled across a lavender bunch at the store, so naturally I brought it home to play around with. I love the simplicity that lavender offers. Not to mention the soothing and calming smell. Lavender symbolizes the first emotion of love in the language of flowers. It has often been gifted as a promise of new adventure and it expresses devotion and purity. Lavender is the color of grace, elegance and uniqueness. It completely personifies romance, a perfect flower to celebrate our love. I imagine beautiful and delicate little bouquets lining the tables during our receptions, so magical.

I hope this inspires you all to to get some flowers and turn some common household items into vases!
Have a beautiful day!

Piece of my Heart

The endless beauty of the Grand Canyon is almost overwhelming. I imagine you could spend days or weeks, months even, exploring the canyon and still not see all of it. This magnificent place definitely stole a little piece of my heart. I love the warm color pallet surrounding the area, the patterned lines in the rock, desert roses, and the quiet, still air. Our latest collection, infinite summer, was so inspired by our time spent here. Not only with the idea of a seemingly eternal beauty, and an endless summer in mind, but the native art we found all across Arizona had me longing to create some beauties made with vibrant turquoise gems, all kinds of feathers and leather. I'm especially fond of these pieces, they mean so much, from the colors I incorporated to the stones I used. Each little detail is representative of a some part of our wonderful adventure, a lot of love went into their making. This collection is our way of sharing an element of our journey with you!

Stop by the shop and check out our latest designs inspired by the southwest!

Hope you're having a gorgeous day!

The Rocky Mountain State

Colorado was the last official stop on our adventure. We stayed for a whole week, it was so refreshing! Trev's mom, step dad and siblings live in Denver, we visit at least once a year. It was love at first sight for me, I always look forward to our annual trip. The scenery is undeniably beautiful, the sunsets are heavenly, the Rockies are majestic, best of all Trevor's family is so warm and welcoming. I love hanging out at his parent's house, it truly feels like a home away from home. I was especially excited to be there for Fourth of July again. The fireworks show at Civic Center Park is my favorite, complete with a live orchestra playing patriotic songs and a light show on the capitol building. (I have a serious soft spot for those tunes, when I was a kid, instead of lullabies, my Dad sang America the Beautiful & The Star Spangled Banner.) We got to spend some time wandering around Pearl Street Mall, one of my favorite spots to shop in Boulder and hanging out in Denver City. I love the way the city skyline looks with all it's tall buildings and even taller mountains. I love everything about the Rocky Mountain State and I can't wait for our next visit!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week!
Love,
MacK Mars
