Wednesday - What We're Up To

It's still crazy busy here at SoulMakes (which is AMAZING!) and we're working hard to lovingly prepare each order we receive!

And check out this little holiday set up in a local shop..

On the home front, Chanukah started this past Saturday!

It's been a great holiday so far! Trev got us this..

It's a seltza water machine. I think some of you pronounce that "selzterrrr water" Anyways, you just screw in a bottle full of water and add the bubbles by pressing a button that't hooked up to some C02. You can also use various mixes to make colas and even energy drinks. But who cares? I just want seltza. I have a pretty serious addiction. I keep a case of this stuff in my car, yeah, it's like that. 

I got Trev some comfy new PJ's and wrapped 'em up SoulMakes style.

I also took some time to make myself something pretty. I haven't had much time for creating new items with the holiday rush, so it was a nice little break and I really love it..

It'll definitely hit the Shop soon! 

Besides that we're getting ready for our ten day vacation that starts next week! We'll be on our annual trip to Denver with Trevor's family and I can not wait!

Wednesday - What We're Working On

So with the holiday season in full swing my hands have been busy, busy, busy! I haven't really had the opportunity to make many new items, but I've had a lot of fun getting to know some of my customers and fans a little better in working closely with them on custom orders.  I've shipped out some really beautiful orders! I'm quite fond of this one in particular..

Wednesday - What We're Working On

We have another event coming up next weekend and we're super excited! This one is larger and allows us more set up space, so we'll be able to spread out and create the atmosphere of a small shop. It's also geared a little bit more towards the holidays, so we've got some special items coming out to help you celebrate! I always look forward to designing new items, which I haven't gotten to do as much in the last few weeks while preparing for all these events. So it's a welcome break from the norm. Here's some  of the items you can expect to see in the Shop for the holiday season!

I love these, I want to cover a christmas tree entirely in crystals!

Trevor is also working on some ornaments and he'll be building a wood plank christmas tree to hang these beauties from! Come by and check it out in Fredericksburg next weekend!

Wednesday - What We're Working On

Sandy came and went, my heart goes out to all my friends across the East coast that were affected, New York, New Jersey and one of my favorite beaches, Ocean City. I wish you all many blessings as you begin your journey to recovery. Fortunately, we did not have any flooding into our apartment, we did not lose power or really see anything other than a whole lot of rain. I did get to stay home Monday and Tuesday, because power was out at the office. So, Trevy and I busied our hands preparing for this weekends events (Hoping they aren't cancelled due to storm damage)

Trevy got more displays ready..

He took some average looking thrift shop frames, painted them with white crackle paint and sanded them a bit for an antiqued look, then be covered the backs with burlap to hang some of our Statement Pieces from. He never stops impressing me with his creativity <3 I'm so glad we got to spend some extra time together over this long weekend!

We had a pretty great four day weekend and we're feeling pretty prepared for our adventures this weekend. We'll be in Annapolis, if any of you local fans want to come by and see us! 

We're super grateful that Sandy left us unharmed and the sun is shining bright this morning!

Wednesday - What We're Working On

Trevor has become a big part of the creative process here at SoulMakes, especially with all the upcoming events we have. The next to events are the biggest ones to date, everything before this was just practice :) There will be tons of vendors and thousands of people coming to shop. So as we prepare our 10x10 space, we're thinking about what we might do if we were opening a store, how we would decorate it and furnish it etc. We want to give people the feeling that they aren't just at some booth at a festival, but rather entering a comfortable, fun little bohemian shop. With that idea in mind, Trevy has been picking up odds and ends to "upcycle" and use in our little pop up shop.

Think of these as the "before" pictures..I can't wait to show you the after shots..

A unisex form!!

Another really fun thing about getting ready for these events is that I get to make new items! We'll have plenty of items that are currently in the Shop, but there will be a whole variety of new pieces as well! Each item we make for the online shop has to go through the process of being made, photographed, priced, listed etc. But with a live event I don't have to worry about making things as pictured, I get a little extra creative leeway.

I went a little crazy with crystals this week, but I finally got my hands on some white leather, so what can I say?

Crystal Fringe Necklace with white leather and coming soon, the apatite necklace. I'm pretty in love with this one.

Apatite helps with spiritual attunement and promotes acts of service and humanitarianism.
